congress

A congress is a formal meeting where people come together to discuss issues or questions. It often refers to the legislative branch of a nation's government, such as the US Congress, but it can also refer to any important meeting or official organization.

While the word congress inevitably brings to mind the governing Congress with a capital C, there are many different kinds of congresses. The potato farming community, for example, convened the first World Potato Congress in 1993, and the United States Bowling Congress formed in 1995 when the men's and women's bowling organizations joined forces. Congress comes from the Latin congressus, which fittingly means both "friendly meeting" and "hostile encounter."

Wednesday's child...

Monday's child is fair of face

Tuesday's child is full of grace

Wednesday's child is full of woe

Thursday's child has far to go,

Friday's child is loving and giving,

Saturday's child works hard for a living,

And the child that is born on the Sabbath day

Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.  

It has been a long week

and an interesting entry into a new year.

If you are like me,

you are excited and invigorated about new beginnings.

Things are fresh, innocent and inspiring.

A new word for the year: curious,

new projects sparkle with promise,

the world seems cleansed and fertile.

The child of this past Wednesday, 1, 6, 2021 is indeed full of woe.

2020 and letting go

Early 2020 was all about planning for me.

A SOCAL workshop

followed by a much deserved vacy with my kiddo

a pink alchemy workshop on the beach 

a group show in Santa Fe

visiting my new great niece and family in Nebraska

lakehouse workshops in the glorious fall

flights ,hotels, connecting with friends and family

all the best laid plans, alas...

letting go was shall we say

necessary.

But there is more:

letting go of

connecting with friends and family

we said goodbye to sweet Luna

a serious heartbreak.

Our son traveling from Santa Barbara to

Peru, Holland, Mexico and points in between,

we closed on the sale of the other house Jan. last

that I will take up tomorrow

well hello 2021

Yes indeed, hello 2021.

It's been a wild ride getting here, but here we are.

For me, twenty twenty was aplenty in paradox.

I am curious about that.

As challenging as it was I learned many important things about:

letting go

patience

self-reliance, self-trust, self-care, self-love

curiosity

intuition

the enormous value of less

mortality

work

social connection

family

gratitude

and creativity.

Whew!

I'll start with letting go tomorrow, hopefully.

This is just an experiment.
