I am still
basking in the afterglow
of the art journaling retreat
that magically assembled
right here where I live.
I am also wishing that I had taken more pictures.
Indeed this is a dream
that I have been dreaming for some time now.
That it did in fact happen
still surprises and delights me.
My intent was to gather a small group
of like-minded friends
and create an intimate journaling retreat
that was location specific.
Thus allowing us to savor
a few of my favorite haunts,
the neighborhood dock,
tea in the tent,
the cedarwoods with the deer tree,
etc...
We created simple little journals
from colorful nature printed papers,
journaled photos
and numerous other paper pleasures.
We embellished them with image transfers,
home made stickers, collage,
holy stones and stripey rocks.
We gathered various local curiosities:
stripeys, black heart shaped bulbs,
roots and twisty driftwood.
There was some (clandestine) root wrapping.
We wrote from prompts
(small treasures, beach glass, onion skin...)
and a candlelit word circle in the woods.
We shared yoga, journey dancing, yoga dance,
superb food made by Lisa, wine
and communed with the herons.
Now, I continue to dream
about how to embroider and expand on this magic.
And - next time,
I promise to take more pictures...
