deep mountain lake
sleeping next to me
singing the songs
of spring's joyful flight
peepers
deep bullfrog croak
and toad talk
red winged black bird pairing
dancing amongst the reeds
and tall grasses
swooping
diving
dancing figure eights
as sunset spills liquid butter
in silky patches...
I wrote this last night
in a comment over here
at Lea's labyrinth - a place
where sometimes my words
take on a form that surprises me...
Byzantina...
our sweet lap kitty
now for seventeen years
perhaps you remember her
she went out as she has all these years
and did not come back
several days ago
she did not wander in all these years
but she has disappeared...
Kiki...
our new kitty
born to a wild mama
in the town warehouse
she adjusted so well
purring at the top of her lungs
24/7 - she was so happy to have a home
she loved sleeping on our bed
and each night I would come up
she would hop down
have a bite to eat
and hop into the sock drawer
purring away
so happy and we all would slip
into dream filled sleep...
she went out 2 days ago
and has not returned
she did not wander from the property
she was in and out frequently
(I was the door-mouse - I know)
she has disappeared
and I am ever so sad
as the only conclusion
that we can conceive
to the mystery
is a hungry bobcat...
"dancing amongst the reeds
and tall grasses..."
I am missing my kitties
I am sad
I have cried through one whole night
of dreamless sleeplessness
this is the paradox
of paradise
and I must learn
a new acceptance,
a revised version
of a peaceful paradox...
