falling...

this fall

I have fallen completely in love

with this rich and colorful season

and, although I have always been smitten

with this time

of harvest, crisp air and unparalleled color

this year - perhaps because I have been out here - in it

rather than in my old town studio,

I have savored each and every day...

waking in a red room

with butterscotch pouring in from the windows,

multiple daily walks in shwooshing dry leaves,

gathering these drifting treasures

to press in big books

and now - today's inspiration

which will unfold 

in a future post

yes I am falling...

golden play today

as it rains yellow and red

a season turning...

You are much like your mother, gathering the gorgeous colorful leaves and pressing them between the pages of a heavy book, in hopes of keeping the golden, orange and crimson treasures to enjoy later when the weather turns cold and everything is white. It is thrilling to observe the day to day color changes, but it saddens me a little to say "goodbye" as they drift to the ground and give up their brilliance as weather and time fades them til another year of radient beauty. its lyle working at the shop today! glad to see your leaf collection and especially the journal page!I've been keeping maple leaves! wanna swap? too bad the pine cones falling nearby are so wet from the rain! dont think they'd ever dry even in the oven. they'd be pretty on a cover! or horse chestnuts. keep on creating . lyle
